Technology can be wonderful -- or a major pain! Apologies for not being able to keep our Late Breaking information up to the minute. While our site was kept up and running, updates were not getting through. It seems we are finally back on track.

Next up is our Chapter AirVenture work day. The date has been changed to Saturday, July 19th. It is our hope that the camp grounds will be open and ready for staking your claims for prime territory by then. We will hold our July monthly meeting at the Red Barn after the work is done. I hope you'll join us.

The Spirit of 03 Legal Eagle ultralight may have another chance to fly at AirVenture 2008! Bonnie Eales/Jensen has been in contact with the power that be at EAA and has been granted permission to go ahead with the engine re-build and further test flying required before the final decision to be allowed to enter the UL pattern during the show. We are currently looking for a temporary hanger spot at Hartford Municipal Airport to finish the assembly and test flights. Please ask around and let me know if anyone out there is willing to help. This will most likely be the starting point for the final journey by air to Oshkosh. The final goal is to have it flown daily in the UL pattern this year. Let's all keep our fingers crossed.

Ouch, no, don't, stop, that hurts, help, ouch, please no more, OUCH, STOP, MY ARM IS STARTING TO HURT, DON'T, please stop, ouch, oooh, please stop, it hurts, OK,OK,OOOOO KKKKKK, YES I WILL HOLD THE SWEETCORN ROAST AS USUAL -- enough arm twisting. YA ALL TALKED ME INTO IT. ITS GONG TO BE THE SAME AS USUAL except its going to be different.
I'm just going to manage it and you all are going to do the work. I will make a list of all the things that need to be done and a list of all the stuff that will have to be purchased or supplied and each of you WILL volunteer to do one of the items. I will try to make a list like Marie Golner does and you can sign up for what you want to do. And it will include others than the normal 10 or 12 that usually do all the work at all of our fly ins. We have many members that can start getting involved and helping out. Or maybe they just don't give a damn about the club. I will make a grocery list that someone can do all of the shopping from and they should save the receipts for reimbursement from our donations. That can also be split into groceries, supplies, charcoal, condiments, paper and plastic products, and other things as they come to mind. Someone can be in charge of making about 6 or 7 ice cream buckets of ice for the lemonade, drinking water and for cooling items in a cooler. Someone can manage to get about 40 or 50 gallons of water down there for the lemonade, drinking and to soak the corn in. I have about 8 5-gallon jugs that can be used. I will make arrangements to get the tent but will need 2 people at about 11 am on Fri to go along and help load the tent. Will also need about 6 to 7 to help erect the tent about 3 o'clock. I will think of more things as we go along. The big thing is getting the groceries and the supplies down there. I will make arrangements to get the sweetcorn and pick it up. What do you think? Should we have brats as we always had, or should we have mainly sweetcorn???? I will make arrangements for the "portypotty" and I assume the club will pay for it. What would be really nice is if a few would show up at my place the Sun. afternoon the week before to help clean the grill, load the tables that I have here, load the refrigerators, and the corn soaking bucket, and other items that are needed that I have. The stuff that I just can't do anymore so if you want to have the sweet corn roast you all have to help, (signed) Harold.

SWEET CORN ROAST AT MATHAIRE: August 30 Sat and leftovers on Sun Aug 31st. Come Fri and stay and camp till Mon. A flyer with complete info on driving, flying, and times will be in the August newsletter and posted here.

Contact Brett Wilke for more info. 920-622 4852 (I was there the last two years and had a wonderful time) nice airport and a chance to win back the flight log if we can get anybody to show up and fly. Thanks again, Harold

spacer spacer Help Needed

Important news from Steve Magdic:
I have accepted a donation to our Young Eagles program in the form of another aircraft. I'd like to thank Scott Wall for offering his VW equipped Teenie Two to our Chapter free of charge. Scott would like to see us use this as an alternate simulator aircraft at our events offering Young Eagles flights. We could also lend one or both simulators to other Chapters as well. Scott had mentioned possibly donating the enclosed trailer made especially for hauling this airplane. That would make transporting to and from events a breeze! My sons and I are in the process of cleaning and polishing the fuselage and should have the wings delivered this coming weekend. I'll let you know what the next step will be and what kind of help I'll need to get this project ready for this year's flying season.

We still need your old wing rib jigs! Bonnie and Fred need them for the AirVenture Tech Tent. Please deliver them to me at one of our meetings or Chapter events. We'll be sure to get them back to you. Thanks!
